For your items to be in saleable condition, the following conditions must be met:

  • Electrical items must work
  • All items should not have stains, rips or marks
  • All items must not have significant damage from pets including appearance or odour
  • All items should come from a smoke-free environment
  • Upholstered items must come equipped with a fire label
  • Items like armchairs need to be in good condition
  • Items must be able to be removed from its location i.e. small enough to fit through entrances and exits

What does a fire safety label look like?

If you are donating upholstered furniture to our store, there must be a fire label firmly attached or sewn into each item you donate.

By law, we cannot sell upholstered furniture in our stores without a fire label, and our van drivers will reject items without them.

Where you might find a fire label

  • underneath cushions
  • underneath items of furniture
  • sewn into cushion covers
  • on mattresses and bed bases
